Blogging Assignment #2

For this blog assignment I focused on multi engine aircraft fires. The first question that I aim to answer is what a short circuit is. A short circuit is when a power circuit is cut and instead of the entire circuit continuing on it's intended pathway the current jumps to a closer wire of a separate electrical circuit. The extreme amounts of added current on the new circuit overload the wires and they tend to destroy equipment and melt connections.
The electrical fire in flight procedures for the piper Seminole are very related to what is stated in the article. The Seminole list does not advocate putting circuit breakers back in, that is unless they are required for sustained flight to land. It also advocates the use of a fire extinguisher and landing as soon as possible. The concepts shown in the PIM are the same as what is explained in the article.
As far as I am to handle an electrical fire in flight when I am flying in the Piper Seminole, I will automatically start turning off electrical equipment until I feel it is safe to consult my checklist.
