Blog Post #6

My Multi-Engine Ground School Experience.
I had a good time in the multi engine ground school class. Instead of a traditional class I had the opportunity to, with one other student, get a completely personal experience being taught by a single instructor. One thing I learned from the class is that flying a multi engine airplane is not about knowing how to fly with two engines. The basis of learning multi engine procedures is knowing how to fly a multi engine aircraft with only one functioning engine. Flying with two is just the same, with an engine out the game is completely changed. Another thing I learned was that procedures are much more important when flying multi engine aircraft. The multi engine environment, especially under IFR, is notoriously less forgiving than single engine VFR flights. It is important to stay sharp and be on the ball when flying multi.
What I liked about the class was the amount of individual attention. My instructor was always available and attentive, I very much benefited from how the class was run. As far as things I did not like, I do not really have any qualms with how the class was run or anything. Very happy with the entire situation.
As far as the blogging is concerned, I believe that it was not a very good learning tool or activity. I feel that posting up assignments that we should just turn in to a teacher was somewhat of a waste of time. I understand how schools want to be new and technologically advanced, it is extremely popular for organizations to utilize things like blogging and social networks currently. Though my belief is that is a way of doing something is tried and true (writing assignments and giving them to a teacher) then there is no reason to change it.
All in all I had a very good experience with this class and am very happy to have done it.
